150 apartment development in Nottingham gets stamp of approval

February 21, 2019

150 new apartments are to be built on London Road in Nottingham after Cassidy Group submitted plans to the council.

According to the plans, the development will “regenerate an unoccupied city centre site comprising an existing brownfield site and a empty Victorian commercial building,” and “support the Council’s objectives for the Southside Regeneration Area and build upon the transformation of the area initiated by the adjacent 350 unit development of Saffron Court on Crocus Street, also by the Cassidy Group.”

The development is to be called Chainey Place – a reference to the historic Chainey Pool that was on the site previously, and was one of two large pools in the area that were crossed by wooden bridges. The bridges were held up by chains that crossed the river, which led to the pool’s name.

The highest point of the building is to be 8 stories, the same height of the adjacent Saffron Court complex.
