Client Cassidy Group has chosen the Northampton-based contractor to build the scheme on the site next to Nottingham train station, which is understood to be worth up to £46m.

The project, which will see Winvic build 350 residential units on the site, with 209 apartments for the private rented sector and 141 units for direct sale, is the firm’s first major PRS scheme within the centre of Nottingham.

The scheme will also include 130 car parking spaces, communal areas and a letting office on the ground floor.

Plans for the project were granted in April, and the contractor has already started on site, with completion scheduled for December 2018.

The site adjacent to Nottingham train station is the former home of the Hicking Pentecost textile works.

The project is the latest in the city to gather pace in recent months, after two major firms joined the race for the £150m revamp of the city’s Broadmarsh shopping centre.

Construction News revealed last week that Laing O’Rourke and Bowmer & Kirkland are bidding on the project to demolish and rebuild large areas of the existing shopping complex in Nottingham city centre for client Intu.

A wider £1bn regeneration of Nottingham City Centre was also one of the projects showcased at property conference MIPIM in March this year, as part of a wider portfolio of developments across the Midlands Engine.
